Terms of Service
Last updated: 5 September 2026
Chronex Paralegal Services is not a law firm. Our staff are not admitted attorneys, advocates, or solicitors. We do not pretend to be attorneys, and we must not be understood or relied upon as such.
By using our services, you acknowledge that Chronex provides limited paralegal preparation and administrative support only. Nothing we say or do constitutes legal advice, and we do not represent you in any legal capacity reserved for qualified legal practitioners.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By contacting Chronex, submitting an enquiry, or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
2. What We Are
Chronex is a paralegal services provider based in Johannesburg, South Africa. We assist clients by preparing documents, organising case materials, and providing administrative support in connection with legal processes. We operate strictly within the limited scope of paralegal work.
3. Services We Provide (Limited Scope)
Subject to the nature of your matter and applicable law, we may assist with:
- CCMA & Labour Disputes: Preparing case documents, organising evidence, drafting submissions, and preparing you for CCMA proceedings. You appear and present your own case unless you appoint an admitted representative.
- Family Law & Mediation: Preparing documentation such as protection order applications, divorce papers, maintenance applications, and parenting plans based on information you supply. We do not advise on legal strategy or rights.
- Contracts & Legal Drafting: Drafting employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, and POPIA-related documents from templates and instructions you provide. These are administrative drafts, not legal opinions.
- Small Claims & Court Prep: Drafting summonses, compiling evidence packs, and preparing case files for Small Claims Court or similar civil forums. You remain the party to the matter.
- General preparation: Filing documents where permitted, tracking deadlines, following up on administrative matters, and explaining procedural steps (what happens next, not what you should legally do).
4. Services We Do NOT Provide
Chronex explicitly does not provide any service that only admitted legal practitioners may provide, including but not limited to:
- Legal advice or opinions on your rights, obligations, or chances of success
- Acting as your attorney, advocate, or legal representative in court, the CCMA, or any tribunal
- Litigating on your behalf or conducting proceedings as a legal practitioner
- Appearing in the High Court, Labour Court, Supreme Court of Appeal, or Constitutional Court as legal counsel
- Holding ourselves out as attorneys, advocates, solicitors, or a law firm
- Notarial services, conveyancing, or trust account services reserved for attorneys
- Negotiating on your behalf with binding legal authority unless explicitly permitted by you and by law
- Any service that requires admission, registration, or a Fidelity Fund certificate under the Legal Practice Act
If your matter requires legal advice or representation, we will advise you to consult an admitted attorney or advocate.
5. No Attorney-Client Relationship
Engaging Chronex does not create an attorney-client relationship. Our relationship is that of a paralegal service provider and client. Confidentiality is respected, but the protections associated with attorney-client privilege may not apply in the same way.
6. Client Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Provide accurate and complete information for document preparation
- Understand that you are responsible for decisions in your matter
- Appear at hearings and proceedings in your own name unless you appoint qualified legal representation
- Verify all documents before signing or submitting them
- Seek independent legal advice from an admitted attorney where your matter requires it
7. Fees and Payment
Fees are quoted per case or per service as agreed before work commences. Pricing starts from R 2 500 per full case preparation unless otherwise stated. Payment terms will be confirmed in writing. Fees are for paralegal preparation work only, not legal representation.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chronex is not liable for outcomes in your legal matter, decisions you make based on our preparatory work, or any loss arising from reliance on our services as legal advice. Our liability is limited to the fees paid for the specific service in question.
9. No Guarantee of Outcome
We do not guarantee any result in CCMA matters, family court applications, small claims, or any other proceeding. Case outcomes depend on many factors outside our control.
10. Referrals
Where a matter exceeds our scope, we may refer you to an admitted attorney or advocate. We are not responsible for services provided by third-party legal practitioners.
11. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement with reasonable notice. You remain responsible for fees for work already completed.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of South African courts.
